Though Singapore is one of the most expensive cities to live in, it does offer quite a few free activities to do across wide interests. Here are five of my favourite ones.
5. Movie under the Stars:
Grab a bedsheet, head to the beachside and watch classics under the stars for free. Walk towards Palawan Beach on a Saturday evening for the free screening Popcorn Movie Nights at Sentosa. It’s absolutely free, every Saturday starting at 6.30 PM. There are food stalls in case you are too lazy to pack your dinner along. Do check the weather before heading there as Singapore weather could be moody sometimes.

4. Light and Sound shows & Concerts:
If you are around Marina Bay area, sit beside Shoppes under the iconic Marina Bay Sands to enjoy the free light and sound show every evening. After that, take a stroll down to Gardens by the Bay to experience another light and sound show around the artificial trees. Esplanade also offers free concerts every once in a while.

3. Star Gazing at SCOB:
SCOB – Science Center and Observatory in Jurong East organizes free stargazing sessions every Friday evening. They have couple of small telescopes and one larger telescope focusing at moon or other planets closer to earth depending on the season and time of the year. Once done observing the stars through the lenses, just lie down under the stars for a perfect end to your date ;). The area has less light pollution and the sky is particularly clear provided it’s not a cloudy or rainy evening.

2. ION Sky:
ION Orchard has much more to offer than just shopping. A hidden gem in this shopping mall is the ION Sky which has 360 degree views of the whole of Singapore from the 55th floor. You do not have to pay any cover charge to go to one of the highest buildings in Singapore and enjoy the view from up there for free.

1. Health Promoting Malls :
More than 15 malls across the island have interesting classes almost every day ranging from Yoga to Kickboxing to Zumba and Cardio. Best part is that most of these malls are nearby MRT stations with easy accessibility. If your gym being too far from work or very expensive is your reason not to exercise, then head to one of these malls near your office or home for a quick and free work out session.
